How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started in mediation many years ago as a result of community violence that ended taking the lives of many youths. A community dispute resolution center had a mediation program in which I attended and received training.
Do you only provide services to Muslim communities?
No. I provide services to anyone in need; conflict is everywhere.
What time of clients do you work with?
I work with individuals, small businesses, attorneys, and Masjid looking for specialized services for underserved communities.
Are you an attorney? Do you give legal advice?
I am NOT an attorney and I do not provide legal advice.
What advice would you give to a client looking to hire a mediator?
Well, I would advise the client to look for the mediator's or paralegal's commitment to service. The provider should always be available by returning phone calls and emails. The provider should be skilled. The provider should be resourceful in finding answers when they don't know all the answers.
What should clients think about before talking to a mediator?
Clients should always think about desired outcomes, cost, and emotional involvement if they are not proactive in resolving a conflict or dispute.
Is your service confidential?
Yes. Our services are confidential. Our client's privacy is paramount to our business. Case information is confidential except allegations of abuse and threats of harm to self and/or others.
